Magnum Bonum Spyder / Scorpion Bonum De-Luxe
Southend
1976 / 1983

This 22" frame was built ca. 1976, probably as a Magnum Bonum Spyder. Alf renovated it in 1983 and re-titled it a Scorpion Bonum De-Luxe. The frame was almost certainly built by Jack Denny as an uncompromising road race bike: there are no mudguard eyes, short Campagnolo rear drop outs and no head badge. It has a short wheel base, aggressive angles and little tyre clearance. Nonetheless, from the standpoint of lugwork, it may be compared to Mag.Bonum Spyders of later manufacture; click here for one of the later Mag.Bonum Spyders to compare the lugs.

The color scheme is red enamel with with chromed ends & headlugs, long Six-Day seat tube transfer. Components: Campag Record groupset incl. pedals; Cinelli bar & stem; Mavic 700c Monthillery Pro sprint rims on Campag Record hi-flange hubs; Cinelli saddle on Campag Record twin bolt seatpin.
