1986 Magnum Opus

Magnum Opus
Southend, 1986

This vibrant Magnum Opus was featured on the cover of the 1987 Hetchins catalog. It is, so far as is known, the last frame Jack Denny built in Southend. It was built for Lew Difford, whose initials are carved into the seat tube ornament. It is fitted with the original Dura Ace components and still bears the original paint and transfers.

The color scheme is black with red lugs picked out in gold; chrome forks, rear triangle, head badge, and seat tube ornament.

In 1999, a trio of Hetchins riders did the End-to-End run in reverse direction (John O'Groats to Land's End -- hence JOGLE). Most people do it the other way (LEJOG) due to prevailing winds, but on that ocassion the winds were favorable. The black/red bike in the foreground is the bike featured here. David Miller is seated on the left.
