VeloWino vintage event, Weinheim Germany, 2022

This year was the 6-th running of the event in Weinheim, Germany. There were four routes ranging from 40 kms on flat ground (suitable for fixie), to 120 kms (hilly). This is one of my favorite vintage events of the year; suitable for all age groups and families. Open to all vintage and bespoke bicycles; appropriate attire is encouraged. No silly medallions passed out to clutter up your display cases at home; participants get a bottle of wine at the finsh. This is a classy event.

We had incredibly good luck with the weather. It had rained the night before, but the event day was merely overcast and so not unsuitably hot: a long-sleave wool jersey was just right. Routes were well sign-posted, wardens at major crossings helped us to cross over; the refreshments were excellent, and the scenery in and around Ladenburg is great.

Some personal impressions of the Sunday ride below. Mouse-over for captions. All photos taken with an iPhone13.
